Post-Operative Instructions of General Anaesthesia
- Drink small amounts of clear liquids such as water, mineral water or apple juice.
- Avoid foods that are sweet, spicy or hard to digest for today only.
- Eat more food as your body can tolerate.
- If you feel nauseated, rest your stomach for one hour then try drinking clear liquid.
- The anaesthesia may affect your judgement, coordination and reaction time for about 24 hours.
- Do not drive, operate heavy machinery or make any important or legal decisions for 12 to 24 hours after you leave the clinic.
- Be aware of the dizziness. Take your time and walk slowly as sudden changes of position may also cause nausea.
- Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours after you leave the clinic.
- Try to sleep with two pillows on each side.
